|
|
I'm 15 and on 200 mg of Zoloft. I've been on it for over a month (month and a half?) at this high of a dosage. I've been on it since october? I believe you could say.
Usually I would get worst nightmares and weird sleeping patterns (constantly waking up) when the dose increased. I'm a really heavy sleeper; I don't move around or toss and turn or anything.
Lately, a month into this dose I have been having legit the worst night terrors. It's mixed with past memories that haunt me regarding ocd, gorey murders (and I can't take blood), things that haven't happened that'd make me uncomfortable due to the ocd, and the most vivid rapes. I can still remember these as I was told to write them down and show my therapist.
Basically he said I'm not me in my dreams.. but they were all the same emotions I'd feel or felt. It makes no sense.
But now I'm tossing, turning, kicking everything off my bed, waking up in a cold sweat and not being able to understand it was only a night terror and I'm not there. I can usually wake up from a nightmare and just go back to sleep but I can't seperate real from a dream. It takes me like 10 minutes to convince myself I'm in my bed.
Any similar cases? |

Hey Golden, how are you going with these nightmares?? I used to have these also, with past obsessions & sometimes just a a normal dream would freak me out...i would wake up, talk to my wife about my dream & she could tell i was going to have an obsession about it...she would look at me & say....ITS JUST A DREAM...NOTHING MORE!!! From then on i would wake up, be thinking about my dreams...start to obsess...catch myself & say...ITS JUST A DREAM....LET IT GOOOO! After a while i just let it happen, didn't respond with my ocd brain...Anyway hope this helps!!
Be strong!!

It's odd.. I don't obsess. I just can't stand waking up in a pure sweat like not being able to tell the difference from reality and the dream.
Last night I was kidnapped... dirty places.. ick. |

| I'm also taking Zoloft and have strange, weird dreams. I'm also waking up more frequently at night and have night sweats...I don't know if I like this med! Right now I'm taking 300mg, which I think is incredibly high. I'm also on Wellbutrin and Topamax. I feel like a toxic waste dump. In the past I've gone off all of my meds because of this feeling - but it has led to relapses of OCD that were debilitating. So, for now....I feel for you! It's just the Zoloft though. |

The cold sweat is every night:( but most of the time the night terrors are gone? I wrote them all down and gave them to my therapist who promptly told me, because of one dream having gene simmons in it that my dream is telling me to "channel my inner gene simmons"...still not sure what that means.
That's a really high dose, wow, legally doctors can only go up to 200 mg for people less than 18 and 250 mg for 18 and over unless the doctor has tried everything else and has very good reason to prescribe higher. |

I agree. 200mg is extremely high for someone of your age. I remember when I was 16, I was just taking 50mg and that was a lot for me. I don't see how your doctor is getting away with something like this. You poor thing!
If you want my personal opinion, I would suggest that you wean yourself off of the drug or at least lower the dose significantly. I highly doubt you need a dose quite that large. _________________ Believe it or not, vitamins DO help OCD. Nano Silver is AMAZING! |

Zoloft does cause vivid dreams and nightmares this is documented in many cases. the higher the dose the worse they seem to get. I take the drug and have so for many years... I have been on high to really low doses of it. The dreams on it are by far the worst. I have had all sorts of sleep issues including night terrors and waking up drenched in sweat while on zoloft. now days I can sleep pretty good and forget my dreams rather easy and shrug them off
I should also point out that I lowered my dose allot. I hope this helps give you some comfort knowing that it is something that can be tolerated to some point over time. Also something that can be tried before lowing your dose if your Dr does not want you to is to space out when you take the drug half in the morning and half at night that helps me and also helps with other side effects.
Hope that helps a bit _________________ Site administrator Herb AKA Rogue |
